Product Review: Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

Lets play a guessing game, ignoring the title for now, what would you guess If I said ‘this product is Orange, squishy and perfectly moulded which will leave you looking flawless and your wallet happy’?

You guessed it! Following on from my recent YouTube video which I shall link at the end of this post, I am going to write a full review for you since being able to use this squishy goodness for a while now.

I covered my first impressions in my video, however I shall recap for you. This sponge is unique by going beyond the usual beauty blender teardrop shape, and bringing us THREE ( I felt like that needed to be shouted ) different surfaces for productivity. The main surface rounded sides help blend large areas of the face such as foundation, the precision tip for covering those nasty blemishes and the flat edge which is perfect for contouring.

When I first started using this sponge I used it dry, this was because I wanted high coverage for filming, as I find my lights can wash me out. For those more Sunday days and also for a more flattering finish, it is best to use this sponge wet. To get the perfect saturated sponge as I like to call it, run your tool under the tap, squeeze out all excess water and leave it to air dry while you brush your teeth. Then you’re ready to go! When you come back to your sponge remember not to panic, the tool does grow to almost double it’s size when damp, but this helps to blend out cream and liquids better.

Taking my foundation on the back of my hand or a palette, I roll the sponge into my product making sure the product is evenly spread out on the curved side. This sponge manages to blend out products flawlessly, by simply ‘bouncing’ the sponge in stippling motions, this creates a medium coverage. For those pesky areas where I require a fuller coverage I take the precision tip end of the blender to dab on concealer in a concentrated area.

I am head over heels for this product, I cannot recommend this enough. This would be perfect for those of you with dryer skin, as unlike brushes which have an exfoliative effect, this sponge flattens down your nasty patches when you ‘bounce’ it on rather than irritating them. BINGO!

I knew this MC Sponge was going to be a winner for me as I find all products by Real Techniques high quality and great to use. This little sponge makes applying foundation easy and gives a flawless ‘this is my skin but better’ finish so you don’t look to made up. For £4.99 this sponge wont break the bank balance, and you’ll be left looking fabulous hiding all those dry patches. I managed to pick this sponge up for 2-4-1 which meant I got two goodies. For me this is perfect at the moment as I have been left with dry scars where my acne once was, which is too painful to use a brush on. Now just because this is not a brushes doesn’t mean you can skip the cleaning! Any product or tool you that you use of your face should be cleaned so bacteria doesn’t spread. I like to put my sponge in a bowl of hot water and shampoo and massage until clean.

I am totally impressed with this sponge and I think for those of you that try it out, you will be in love too.
